3/10/01 Plans Received: Full package from Stevenson - spent the day watching the videos and reading the plans
3/11/01 West Marine: Visited West Marine in Cornelius, NC to check out what they have.  Only bought two tubes of 3M sealant and made notes on what to get there when the boat is near completion.
3/12/01 Brannock-Lynch Lumber: Bought the fir for the entire project and ordered the marine plywood.  Also got most of the pulleys and eyebolts.
3/12/01 Custom-Pak: Ordered PPR (urea) glue as called for in the plans.
3/12/01 Contractors Depot: Ordered all the #8 SS screws.
3/13/01 Brannock-Lynch Lumber: Marine Plywood arrived.
3/13/01 Keel Laying: Began the keel assembly - Laid out the lines and cut.   Waiting for the glue to arrive to complete assembly.
3/14/01 Keel Laying: Still waiting for the glue.  Watched video again & cursed UPS.
3/16/01 Cut Bottom: We've decided to go ahead with the plywood cuts while waiting for the glue and screws to complete the keel.  Cutting went very well - this marine plywood is a lot nicer to work with than the regular stuff I'm used to.
3/17/01 Cut Deck: Lofted and cut the deck pieces - this is starting to look like a boat!  Lofting and cutting the curved parts was what I dreaded most about building this boat and they turned out to be fairly simple.  Now watching the thermometer for 70 so we can clue the keel and still waiting for the screws to arrive.
3/18/01 Glued keel Assembly: Filnally, the temp got above 70 so we could glue the keel assembly together.
3/19-21/01 Gotta make a living: After the time I had last week to work on the bote, I had to actually work at making a living the last few days.  The only boat progress was in curring the grab rails and the ship's wheel.  Also got the keel assembly in shape to receive the bottom.  Hope to get that done this weekend..
3/22/01 Bulkheads: Got both bulkheads cut out - it is wise to lay them both out before you cut, they take the better part of the whole sheet of 1/2" ply so it helps to know you've got room for both.
3/23-25/01 Bottom: Assembled bottom and deck assemblies and did a test fit to the keel.  Installed stringers on the bottom and then fastened the bottom to the keel.  It actually fit and we are getting a good indication of the size of the boat now (and the fact that the garage suddenly became a lot smaller.)
3/26-31/01 Deck/Bulkheads: Installed the front and main bulkheads and transom.   Finished stern block and built the rudder box.  The boat is now 3D and is starting to take on the sleek sexy appearance characteristic of the Weekenders.  We got out sail # from BYYB - #154

Steering/Transom: Began assembling the steering box - I have deviated from the construction sequence by not installing the stern block yet.  I intend to install it, align the transom and steering box all at the same time.  This way, I should get a perfect fit at the stern.  Aligned and cut the stern block, cut the steering box parts and rudder.
4/2/01 Mast Box: Built and installed the mast box, set the mast base in place - looking like a sailboat!
4/4/01 Lazarette: Cut out lazarette and installed.
4/5/01 Steering: Installed rudderbox and steering shaft, connected steering line to internal pulleys instead of the through hull design used in the plans.  This allows easy internal adjustment with a single bolt and keeps the sides of the hull cleaner.
4/6/01 Interior: We decided that some padding and carpet would make the cabin more comfortable so we installed that today.  Our "Padding" is 3/4" foam insulation (like used to wrap a house) - this will not only make sleeping on the boat bottom more comfortable, it will add a bit of flotation to the boat and reduce the sound level of water slapping on the hull.  We used standard marine carpet.
4/7/01 Wheel: Completed the cutout of the "Ships Wheel" and routed a profile on it.  Didn't do much else on the boat today, we needed to deal with general household stuff.
4/8-17/01 Sides/Hull: Spent this week fairing out the stringers - all the angles were wrong), made the bow gussets and installed the sides.  Installed the Starboard rub rail and the 1/2 round molding.
4/18-27/01 Sides/Hull: Installed the remaining rub rails and the 1/2 round molding.  Began bondoing the deck and bow and worked on rear seat design.  I an beginning to agree with other builders that the building takes precidence over the website updates
4/27 - 5/5/01 Cabin: Installed the stringers, rafters, bookcases and all interior trim in preparation for placing the top on the cabin.  Installed the top on 5/5 and workes some more on the bondo and seats.  Ordered the resin and glass from RAKA and the sails from Ulta Sail this week - will need the resin & glass next week after we flip the boat.
5/6/01 - 6/1/01 Overall: Wow, the time sure gets away fast.  We rolled the boat and filled and glassed the hull - then painted her and flipped it back over.  Now we're finishing the seats and working on glassing the topsides.  Everyone was right when they said the website would suffer when the boat got to this stage - I'm ready to launch now! (Not the boat, just me.)
6/1/01 - 6/14/01 Applied topside glass, non-skid and paint.  Finished seats and cockpit area.   Installed wheel both main and jib pulleys to the deck.
6/15/01 - 7/3/01 Final touch-up and odd jobs in preparation for launch.
7/4/01 In the water!
